7 ways to enhance your energy

For centuries, healing traditions from countries such as India, Japan and China, were based on the energy that flowed through the body.

For centuries, this has been ‘medicine’ that supports the ideas that the body does have the ability to heal itself. In current Western society, it seems we now rely on external assistance to heal ourselves either from medication or drugs. We have moved away from the acknowledgement that our body does have the ability to heal itself, when conditions are supporting this. If we are energy and all that surrounds us exists with an energy force, how do you ensure our energy is optimal to support our daily existence?

Our ability to move, breathe, digest food and think is based on our body’s vital life force which operates subconsciously with little to no known effort on our part. For over 2000 years, ancient cultures recognised these life forces to be called energy channels. They can encounter blockages due to environmental, psychological and/or physical conditions. These cultures developed a range of healing traditions including acupuncture, massage and yoga to support the life force flowing with ease.

The energy follows through pathways or energy channels around the body. Although we are made of matter, research has shown we have an energy fields operating through us which can be affected when pressure is placed on specific points on the body. The stimulation of points increase the energy flow. When a dis-ease occurs, it is presumed that the energy is blocked causing pain or discomfort. Increase the flow of energy will ease the discomfort returning the body to a state of equilibrium or homeostasis.

For centuries, cultures have believed these pathways to be called meridians but it is only recently that scientists have confirmed the presence of meridians and have linked them to the cardio-vascular system in the body. A Korean scientist, who injected dye onto acupuncture points identified the meridians which are linked to a duct system which liquid flows through to form stem cells. For the body to flow effortlessly, there needs to be balance. The flow of energy through the body needs to be balanced for all aspects to operate with ease. If there is one meridian out of balance, this affects others. The balance is lost and dis-ease can evolve.

There are many factors which can affect our energy and they can include physical, mental, emotional and environmental. These factors can be on a conscious or subconscious level and can be felt through emotional reactions to specific situations. As well; the food we ate, trauma we have encountered, negative ‘mental talk’, exhaustion and/or WiFi waves can also play a part on a balanced energy flow.

Enhancing the flow of energy can come from:

  1. Meditation

  2. Relaxation techniques

  3. Physical activity

  4. 8 hours of sleep

  5. A positive state of wellbeing, awareness of though patterns that are positive.

  6. Complementary therapies such as acupuncture, massage or yoga.

  7. An awareness can be gain through counselling or kinesiology sessions where the factors can be identified and strategies are offered to support future situations.
