12 epigenetic factors that effect self-belief?

There are potentially 12 factors which can play a part on your behaviors, actions, beliefs and wellbeing.  These factors, fall under the umbrella of epigenetics (the study of change in gene activity that do not change the genetic code but can be passed down from generation) and have the potential to change the DNA pattern of every cell in your body.  Scientists believe that your genes control your health so what if we have more control over the wellbeing of genes?  What if we can change the gene activity to support optimal wellbeing?

Research has shown every cell has a type of consciousness. The consciousness takes place in the cell membrane. The consciousness or expression of your gene can respond to environmental factors affecting the membrane. We now know information flows in both directions to and from our DNA which allows us to consider the environmental impact on our health and wellbeing.  Research has also proven that lifestyle choices can influence your gene activity.  Activities such as smoking, exposure to sun and toxins can shorten your life. Although scientists are learning to manipulating good and bad genes, there is a lot we can be doing to support our longevity.

According to Kanherkar, Bhatia-Dey and Csoka, from the Department of Anatomy, Howard University in Washington, they have researched the following 12 factors.

Which of these 12 factors can you change today?

Epigenetics is now able to explain how your emotions can regulate you genetic expression. Your cell membrane receptors can pick up environmental signals which can affect the blueprint of your genes, this is also supported by your mind which can play an increasing effect on the health of your genes.

Bruce Lipton PhD, believes perceptions can control your biology – you have the power to make the change. The cell membrane can choose to read the genetic blueprint it is receiving from the environment or not. What if we were to surround ourselves with all the ‘right stuff’ to support healthy cell life?

Emotions can regulate genetic expression, supported by Buddha over 2000 years ago: ‘We are formed and molded by our thoughts’.  Joyful people are surrounded by joyful experiences. It’s like it follows them around like a shadow all the time.  As one of the 12 factors is a psychological state, we can see how a healthy self-belief can affect our wellbeing.

Further studies have also found that genes account for 35% of longevity. Blair Justice PhD. believes beliefs, intentions and thoughts have a much stronger affect on your life than genes. As well, further studies into epigenetics reveals you are an extension of your environment. Surround yourself with the positive life you wish for and other areas of your epigenetics may be affected.

A great reminder that all parts of our lives do go together for optimal wellbeing.

Just consider how you can support a healthier body today.
