Self care is feeling uplifted, it allows you to connect with yourself when you need an extra boost.

Place a priority on you, if only for 10 minutes each day.

Taking just 10 minutes out of your busy schedule will see your productivity increase along with invigorated energy levels. Consider how long 10 minutes is? You can listen to 3 of your favorite songs, unload the dishwasher or read a story to your children. What would 10 minutes of self-care mean to you?

Here are some quick tips to promote self-care in 10 minutes:

  1. Dance/Sing like there is no tomorrow - turn up the radio, get down and boogie, let loose and feel free. Move your body to promote blood flow and energy.

  2. Breathe in...Breathe out - the power of our breath is often unrecognized. When was the last time you thanked your breath and lungs for keeping you alive? Consider the immediate stress, then consider what you could replace that stress with.

'Breathe in ...... love, harmony, friendship (include your own)

'Breathe out.... stress, worry, concern (include your own)

  3. Look for the good - take time to consider all the things that went well today. Recount the different activities you have completed and the success you achieved, how did you feel? Sit with your achievements, it can be a very rewarding feeling.

If you have more than 10 minutes:

  4. Try something new - when in a new situation, new neuro-pathways are activated. We often loose track of time, feel recharged and become disconnected from our busy lives. No more auto-pilot, become conscious and aware.

  5. Find your passion - when you are passionate about something your intuition, heart and soul awakens. When being totally immersed you apply creative problem solving skills, let your imagination come alive and it can also work as an escape from the daily grind.

  6. Detox from technology - the greatest time waster can be technology, in particular social media. Make an effort to reduce time spent on technology. Spend time with friends, family or just by yourself, without technology being reachable.

  7. Movement - 30 minutes of activity can promote blood flow and increased energy. Walk the dog, take a stroll during lunch time or simply walk around the school grounds. Fresh air and sunlight are great vitamin boosts.

10 minutes a day has the ability to recharge and rejuvenate you and your body.
